Chimney Liners & Relining in Knoxville, TN
A sound liner is what makes a chimney safe. We reline with UL-listed stainless systems and repair tile liners — sized to your appliance, guaranteed in writing.

The Part You Never See Matters Most
Your Liner Is the Chimney's Safety Barrier
Look up from your firebox and you'll see the first flue tile — the start of a clay or steel channel that runs the height of your chimney, carrying smoke, heat, and creosote away from your home. That liner is the difference between a chimney and a decorated brick tower with fire inside it: it keeps heat off the masonry and combustibles in your walls, and it keeps the draft your fireplace needs.
Liners fail in quiet ways: decades of heat cycling crack and shift the tiles, chimney fires shatter them, acidic condensate eats masonry behind them. An unlined or cracked chimney shouldn't carry fire, period — NFPA 211 is blunt about it. Relining replaces that failed channel with a continuous stainless steel system sized to your fireplace or stove, or repairs sound tile liners with HeatShield joint restoration.
- UL-listed 304 & 316 stainless liner systems
- Sized correctly for open fireplaces, inserts, and stoves
- HeatShield sealant for repairable tile liners
- Lifetime transferable warranty on stainless systems
Know The Warning Signs
Signs Your Chimney Needs Relining
Most of these show up on a camera inspection.
Cracked or Shifted Flue Tiles
Camera scan shows cracked, gapped, or missing tiles — the liner can't do its job with holes in it.
You Had a Chimney Fire
Fire can shatter clay and warp steel. No relighting until the camera confirms the liner survived.
Installing an Insert or Stove
Most inserts and stoves vent better (and safer) through a right-sized stainless liner than a wide, cold chimney.
Persistent Draft Problems
An oversized flue cools smoke, slows draft, and accelerates creosote — a properly sized liner fixes the physics.
No Liner at All
Homes built before the 1940s often have unlined chimneys. If yours does, fire belongs in it only after relining.
Masonry Deterioration Inside the Flue
Spalling tile pieces and sandy debris in the firebox mean the liner is coming apart in place.
NFPA 211 on Liners
The standard requires chimneys to have a liner appropriate to the appliance they serve, and it forbids using a chimney whose liner is cracked, broken, or missing. Our relining work follows the standard's sizing and listing rules — including UL 1777-listed systems and manufacturer-specified installation.

Why It Matters
What Relining Changes
Real Fire Protection
A continuous barrier between flue gases and your home's wood framing — that's the whole point.
Hotter, Cleaner Draft
Right-sized flues keep smoke warm and moving — less creosote, fewer smoky nights.
Easier Sweeps
Smooth stainless walls shed creosote and clean faster than rough or damaged tile.
Cheaper Than a Rebuild
Relining restores safety without tearing down sound masonry — a fraction of rebuild cost.
